The Sunday Posts 2013/ Why Worry

Baby, I see this world has made you sad
Some people can be bad
The things they do, the things they say
But, baby, I'll wipe away those bitter tears
I'll chase away those restless fears
That turn your blue skies into grey

Why worry?
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now?
Why worry now?

Baby, when I get down I turn to you
And you make sense of what I do
I know it isn't hard to say
But, baby, just when this world seems mean and cold
Our love comes shining red and gold
And all the rest is by the way

Why worry?
There should be laughter after pain
There should be sunshine after rain
These things have always been the same
So why worry now?
Why worry now?

Hey Alistair! Ah, happy memories of the original vinyl Brothers In Arms. And did you ever hear Mr. Knopfler's album with Chet Atkins? Fantastic! Hmmm, I wonder when the inevitable DIRE STRAITS reunion tour will happen? Indigo

Happy memories for me to Indigo. I kind of lost touch with Mark knopfler and Dire Straits for a few years. They went through a period of being uncool somehow as my head always turned to look for new things to listen to, but they were always an occasional guilty pleasure. As I got older and wiser I recognised again the creativity and skill of many of their tracks and the way they made me feel. They became firm favourites to return to regularly and have been for many years.

I do remember that album with Chet Atkins. I had a copy on tape until my in-car system ate it and choked itself to death in the process many years ago. Actually it was partly that that reconnected me I think.

I liked a lot of what he did after the break up. Reunion? Might be interesting.......

Oh Yes to the Chet Atkins album!! My sister still has that on the shelf somewhere I am sure.

This just shows that all the best lyrics can stand alone, though, does it not? Pure poetry. As for that picture, Alastair - it's bugging me crazy that I should know here it is... go on, tell me!! YAM xx

Hiya Yamini,

It always makes me smile when folk say they don't like poetry when clearly they are music buffs. What is a song after all - well most of the time anyway.

Mmmmmn? Wonder if I should tell you that the photo is Linlithgow Palace?

OOPS!

Have a good un.

....aaaggghhhhh Yes I knew that! Temporary hitch in the interwobblies for YAM as well as Voovoo the Vaio! Ta for ending the misery.

I agree - they'll say "but oh those lyrics" and somehow miss that it's poetry only.

Catch ya next Sunday nae doot. &*>

(oh I just have to tell you that the first word on captcha is Love with the capital ell!!! YAY).

Our singing group did an acapella version of this lovely song. All the people who grew up in the 80's loved it :) My dad and I used to listen to Brothers in Arms and the Chet Atkins/Knopfler album quietly in the early mornings before I went to school.

It feels like this was one of those albums that most people had in their collection or made a connection with, like say Meatloaf's Bat Out Of Hell album. Everyone of my generation seems to have owned that one......
