Changing Paradigms in Education.

No comment or introduction is really needed from me  here. I'd just ask you consider this argument from educationalist Sir Ken Robinson.

..............I am brimming with thoughts..... Blimey, this hit parts deep down, having been one of those who - these days - would have been diagnosed ADD (hyper is not an adjective that could ever have been applied to me!), I have pretty much always known that the existing edu-system didn't suit me or many others also. Only as a mature adult, when I was sitting under a guru and learning at the highest intellectual level through an ancient system of group learning, where to all intents and purposes one is expected to become the toddler, always asking WHY???, and being encouraged to come up with the answers for oneself; where there was no such thing as 'the wrong answer', but always the possibility of stretching to find another answer... only then did I get that the western model is well and truly b*****d.

Brimming.........

This was a wonderful watch. An even better listen... YAM xx

Hee hee,

Glad you enjoyed this talk from Sir Ken {who's a bit of a hero of mine}.

There are many talks from him on youtube, several on TED and he also has his own website.

I feel the determined sticking to this education model shows huge lack of imagination - or a huge determination to maintain control of the masses' ability to think out of the box. It's a lot less challenging perhaps to have compliant voters who's thought processes are more or less predictable....

...true Alistair - though that backfires, because a dumbed-down population is what becomes disenchanted and lazy and political stances either become 'extreme' or none taken at all... I really am amazed at the general apathy and how some seem to be proud of NOT voting.

Did I say amazed? Disgusted really... I'm going to look up more from your Sir Ken!!! YAM xx
